PBS NASA VR

SKETCH | GRAPHIC

One of my most unusual PBS projects began with a simple question: “You own an airbrush, right?” The assignment included designing a VR headset, a lunar mission sticker pack, and initially a remote-controlled moon rover. The rover was ultimately removed from the project, leaving the challenge of creating tangible VR headsets.

To capture the look and feel of 1960s space technology, I conducted research online and at the Smithsonian, then developed sketches and airbrushed prototypes. The initial directive called for a “used” aesthetic with pockets of lunar dust, but the design evolved to a cleaner approach that better suited the product.

The project also included designing a reimagined 1960s NASA mission sticker pack, combining historical inspiration with creative reinterpretation, providing a final, playful touch to the assignment.
